Background:

Though there are records of a school on the site from 1863, the current school was built in 1968 to serve the new village of Hampton Magna, two miles from Warwick. The school has since expanded to now comprise three buildings. 'Exceptional' facilities in the main block include six classrooms, a music room and a 'large' hall. The 'large' grounds contain four playgrounds with adventure equipment, a nature conservation area, three football pitches, a cricket square and a running track. The sports curriculum is extended with internal competitions and inter-school tournaments in soccer, netball, cross country, cricket and athletics. Pupils can learn brass and woodwind instruments and the violin, and automatically join the school orchestra. There is a 'wide range' of other clubs and activities. Staff 'have a reputation' for helping children with special educational needs, who can be moved into the class seen as most beneficial to them. Links with the community are 'good' and pupils often visit local farms. Year 6 pupils study a local history topic about medieval Budbrooke for half a term. The 'thriving' Parent-Teacher Association raises funds to provide equipment for the school and organises 'fun' social functions. Parents are encouraged to take an 'active interest' in their children's education.
