Background:
Wilmcote is the only Church of England aided school in the Stratford on Avon district. Its catchment area consists of the parishes of Aston Cantlow, Billesley, and parts of Old Stratford and Drayton. Parents who lives outside this area but wish their child to have a Christian education may also apply to the school, which is over-subscribed, with three applicants for every two places. The school has four main teaching areas and pupils are taught in mixed ability groups according to age. Educational visits are made by all classes, normally as an extension of classroom work. They are seen as a social, as well as an academic education. Children are encouraged to join the school sports teams which play against other schools throughout the year. All children have the opportunity to join in games, gymnastics, movement, swimming, athletics, football, netball, hockey, cricket and tennis. Wilmcote seeks to be a place where children are given the opportunity 'to develop to their full potential intellectually, physically, creatively, socially, emotionally and spiritually'.
