Background:
Opened in 1978 as purpose-built first school; reorganised as a primary school in 1996; semi-open-plan design, taking children from age of four. There is a library and a hall, which is used for assemblies, physical education lessons and as a dining room; three playgrounds; computer suite, with each classroom also having computers. The school offers various lunchtime and after-school activities, including choir, recorder, orchestra, football, netball and athletics. Children also have the opportunity to go on educational and residential visits. Strong links with St James Parish Church. The school has an active parents' and friends' association that organises many functions to raise funds. Over-subscribed, with 1.3 applications per place. Before-school care, from 8am; after-school care, until 6pm. Ethos: 'The school aims to create a welcoming and caring Christian learning environment in which it actively encourages each child to achieve his/her own unique potential'.
